Since my dream to be a flight attendant started, I've joined forums, read blogs and followed websites that gives instructions and informations regarding the latest cabin crew open days.
There are two airlines that I dream of being a part of, Emirates and Qatar Airways. Their official agency, IPAMS, posts important details such as open day schedules and open day guidelines which are really helpful for Cabin Crew wannabes like me. Here's what I saw from their website about how to be an Emirates Cabin Crew: :)
Many men and women vying for a slot as Cabin Crew with Emirates Airline wonder, what exactly does Emirates look for in a flight attendant? What qualifications and accomplishments are they are seeking in an individual? Are they suitable for the job at hand?
Well, Emirates Airline and Industrial Personnel and Management Services, Inc. (IPAMS) who has been servicing the manpower requirements of Emirates since 1991 for all categories of air and ground personnel and professionals in the aviation industry, are giving all you Cabin Crew hopefuls 10 helpful tips on how to better prepare yourselves before taking that next step towards a soaring career with Emirates Airline:
1. Go Online. Make sure you secure the Emirates 7-digit Online Reference Number (ORN) through www.emiratesgroupcareers.com.
2. Collect Personal Data. Provide a copy of your resume, educational and employment credentials, and two (2) 2x2 photographs, including a full length photo.
3. Consider Physical Requirements. Flight attendants are to cater to the physical needs of the passengers and must be able to meet them, especially during an emergency situation. Applicants must be 21-35 years old, with good eyesight, and an arm reach of at least 212 centimeters on tiptoes (the minimum a crew member would need to reach emergency gear on any aircraft type). Being physically fit will also help you adjust to the various time zones and flight schedules.
4. Attain Formal Education. You must have at least finished High School or you are in College Level and are fluent in spoken and written English. Additional languages are an asset, but not a requirement.
5. Show Your Personality. The character traits Emirates is looking for are a positive attitude, confidence, flexibility, maturity, and a friendly disposition. Always put a smile on your face.
6. You Care. You must have a genuine passion to help others and to provide quality service. Emirates Airline is famous for their excellent service and their careful attention to the details.
7. You Are Hardworking. You must be resilient and committed to continually perform well, since the job can be very demanding physically, mentally, and emotionally. You need a good sense of discipline and responsibility.
8. Be Open-Minded. You will be dealing with over 100 nationalities and cultures among crew and passengers and would need to be aware and adjust, being sensitive to their beliefs and traditions.
9. Live Abroad. As a crew member of Emirates Airline, you will be based in Dubai. You’ll be provided with company accommodations/living allowance and other required needs, but you must consider the fact that you will be living away from your family, loved ones and friends and must be ready to depart from them. But you should also be ready to make great new friends among the staff and crew, the new faces on every flight, and become part of another family called Emirates.
10. Be Yourself. Though Emirates Airline requires that their service crew have high standards for themselves, they also desire them to be genuine individuals, who are sincere, real people, and are comfortable with who they are so that they can bring out the best in themselves and reflect it towards others.

According to the blog, aspirants can visit IPAMS's office for pre-screening anytime. Here's what they quoted about their daily pre-screening for Emirates Airlines which, as of now has no open day schedule yet in the Philippines.
Details of the airline’s recruitment drive in the Philippines, which continues year-round, may be obtained online at www.emiratesgroupcareers.com. IPAMS conducts daily pre-screening of candidates in view of the monthly campaign of Emirates Airline. Applicants must personally visit the IPAMS office in order to start with the application process. Alternatively, candidates from far-flung areas can also apply online by logging on to www.ipams.com and input their 7-digit Reference Number in the online application form. Suitable candidates will be short-listed and contacted for the selection process and final interviews. IPAMS office is located at 1455 Leon Guinto Sr. St., Malate, Manila with telephone numbers 524-8661 to 63.

Hi!! can i ask?! what are the background colors for the pictures and how many pieces?! :) thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi munchkins! In emirates, they require two 2x2 photographs. For the color, most wanted a sky blue background. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! how did you go?
ReplyDeleteHi, is it ok if I wore open-toed pair of shoes in my whole body picture? thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think it should be closed-shoes :)
ReplyDeleteHi just wanna ask where do you think I should have my whole body picture taken? :)
ReplyDeleteHi... i was wondering if u could elaborate on the physical requirements. i do have myopia but i wear contacts. Should that be ok?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I heard, wearing clearing contact lenses is not an issue at all. :)
Deletehow do you get the online reference number from emirates group?
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, its through this link: https://ekgrpapplications.emirates.com/Careersonlineapps/Common/ProfilePage.aspx
ReplyDeleteHope it helps! :)
hi there! were you able to apply to emirates or qatar airways? how was it?
ReplyDeleteHi Shennet. Yes I was able to apply to Qatar airways. The recruitment process was sure not very easy. You can view my story on the dreams tab if you want to know the whole story :)
ReplyDeleteHi thank you for this blog. Anyway, been searching and waiting for cabin crew recruitment in the Philippines of different international airlines like Qatar Airways and Emirates. I'm already registered in Qatar's and Emirate's online application, should I wait for them to notify me or can go to IPAMS directly? Is IPAMS the only agency that holds cabin crew international recruitments? Aside from these 2 airlines have you tried with Etihad or Asian Airlines and how was it? Thankful to hear these from you. thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteHi cess! Thanks for reading my blog :) based on my experience with QR recruitment, best time to apply is thru their open days. Unfortunately, there hasn't been any QR or EK open day scheds since more than a month or so ago. For EK or Emirates, it's been more than two yrs since they had an OD here in PH.
DeleteThe same is also the case with Etihad and Asiana. Right now, Oman air had been hiring as well as Emirates but for cabin services assistant only. From what I know, Saudia might still be hiring in PH again.

ReplyDeletehello :) we have the same dream of becoming a flight attendant but sadly im short in height hehehe do you happen to know some airlines that does not have height requirements? :D
ReplyDeleteHello Kikay,
ReplyDeleteI am interested to apply. However i am already 32 years old. and with IPAMS, as per announcements, that they are only pre screening 21-30 years old applicants. Can you help me clarify this out? I am planning to move to Quezon city to really try my luck out there.
Good day! This blog is great.
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly inquiring on Emirates' open day but unfortunately, they don't conduct any in the Phils. Should I be flying to another country for OD or just hope for IPAMS initial interviews? Whenever shortlisted, what's the next step?
Hi Maam, you have any idea kung paano magaganap ang assessment CSA Emirates sa Ipams? I'm invited po kasi for the 2nd Screening which they termed "Assessment Day"
ReplyDeleteHi Khim! Congratulations! I have only experienced an assessment day with Qatar Airways, if it's almost the same, they will most likely check your height, weight, skin and reach test again plus group discussion. Here, they will examine your personality and appearance. That's the process with QR. I'm not 100% sure if EK does the same... Pero with QR, foreign recruiters ang naghahandle ng assessment day.
