Calamansi is my everything

I have hyper-pigmentation problems on my knees, elbows, armpits and on the circles of my eyes and I've always been researching and trying out affordable lightening creams to help lighten my problem areas. I've always known how calamansi can lighten the skin, I just didn't have the patience to continuously use them. But  since I started to chase my dream to become a flight attendant, I became determined to use calamansi over my problem areas constantly.

According to an article in skin whitening secrets,  like other citrus fruits, the calamansi is high in vitamin C, and the juice can be a good vitamin basis. Aside from its medical and other useful benefits, calamansi is also used for skin whitening. Beauty experts says that after several applications, as an exfoliant, it helps to whiten the skin. Reason why other soap manufacturers are incorporating calamansi in their products.

I still follow the old-fashion way of using calamansi though. I rub it on my problem areas once or twice a day and it actually lightens. Of course scrubbing while taking a bath and moisturizing after shower is also important to make the skin glow. You remove dead skin cells from your skin when you exfoliate and you make it glow when you supply it with enough moisture everyday. But the same should not be done for the eye circles.

My dark circles is one of my major beauty problems. It's something I want to get rid of. The circles keep my face from looking fresh and lively. So, once again, I researched the best remedy for it. I didn't want to use calamansi for my circles before because I know that the skin around the eyes is more sensitive than any other skins. But the heck? I wanted them lightened so badly! So, here's what I do...

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 bottle of lemon juice (or calamansi)
  • 15 round cosmetic pads cut into halves (you can reshape any cotton pads)
  • an empty, clean, yogurt container (or any round container)

Instructions:
  1. Stack cosmetic halves in criss-cross formation in the empty yogurt container.
  2. Next, pour just enough lemon juice into the container over the cosmetic halves to saturate them. Cover them and label the container, and store in the fridge.
  3. Use daily by applying a cosmetic half under each eye and allow to set for 5-7 minutes. Rinse face with clean, lukewarm, water, and blot dry with a clean cloth.

Some articles say that you should leave the pads on your circles for 10 to 15 minutes but I only do it for 10 minutes as my skin feels too itchy and painful the longer the pad stays there. Here's me doing my new morning beauty regime. I do this twice a day. I also put the cotton back in the fridge and use the same at night. The juice is still there anyways.

I'll just post a before and after photo after I notice an improvement... :)

  4. Hi K! You're correct, this is really cheap. 10php for a bag of Calamansi will last for half a month. I'm still doing this until now and our maid said my dark circles actually lightened. I'm letting the calamansi cotton stay for 7-10mins daily. :)
