For Simplymoody

Hi Simplymoody!

I would love to share what I know about makeup especially for complete beginners as I'm a makeup-beginner myself. It's my dream to be a make-up artist someday that's why I really spend time and other's money to invest in makeup (yeah, I spend my mom and husband's money because I'm  little stingy since I know it's a sort of a leisure and not a necessity for me, hehe). I practice and learn with friends and by myself. With that, just wanna share what pushed me to learn and be enthusiastic about makeup.

First, I'm a member of a dance team and being able to present yourself beautifully is a must. So, I studied how to put on makeup. I studied how to put on face powder, eyeliner and lip gloss/ lipstick. Yes, those were the first beautification tools I had. My lipsticks mostly were my mom's. So imagine how dark and red they were. I used them as eyeshadow, blush and lip color, all the same product.LOL. Then the eyeliner for the eyelids. Take note, I just use them when I'm dancing. After that stage, I learned how to put on concealer. my bestfriend. Hehe. I have dark circles so I use concealer to help minimize them. So, at that time, my makeup staple would be a concealer and face powder. I haven't learned about choosing the right shade/ tone at that stage so you can imagine the racoon eyes and patchy face.EEWW. But don't misunderstood me, I have still more to learn about makeup even today. :)

Going back, my turn-around happened when I encountered this mineral makeup brand. I guess mineral makeup really is for newbies like you and me. It's in this stage that I learned about undertones and skin tones. Those two words have a totally different meaning. I got hooked to mineral makeups that my enthusiasm seems to be never ending yet upgrading. It's also in this stage that I learned how to properly put blush and what lipstick shade to use. It's also when I began to explore other makeup brands. Then, I met mascara, eyebrow set, contour and highlight palette, lip liner, etc.

Now, I had my own makeup brush set to play around with whenever I feel like I need to practice a newly discovered look. I also had my own eyeshadow palette which up to now is still not yet fully utilized since I'm really still learning.

I also plan to study in a certified makeup school so, I can have a real PRO makeup career someday.

This is my makeup story. Its not yet 101 but I hope somehow I've shared a little bit of what you can expect in my next blog post. I appreciate you reading my blogs though my writing skill is not that flawless. Please expect a blog about your requested makeup 101 but it might take a long while before I blog again. However, I still want and love to blog especially when I read comments and posts from my readers.

Thanks again for taking time to read my blogs. I really appreciate it. TC and God bless!

Another MUA Experience

This day was a very tiring day. After we had our weekly meeting in Makati, I went my way to Alabang on a PUJ for a company cheer dance competition. And, I did the makeup of TEN girls! :))

The makeup look is tribal so imagine the thick brows and the tribal designs all over the face of the dancers. Correction, I placed all the tribal designs on their eyes and not on the whole face. And it's like doing a henna tattoo on someone's face. Anyways, will post all the photos here as soon as I have them! I'm really happy with the outcome (I hope they are too). :)

Another successful day it is!

From Delicate to Passionate

Here's another part of the project I did with my new found artist friends. I'm uber ecstatic because I know this won't be the last time I'll do a shoot with them. And I know this will help improve my skills in makeup. ^_^

Anyways, let me introduce you to my model, Melissa. She was a ramp model before and is now being pushed by the hubby to get back into the circulation.

Looks very delicate, ey?
But look at her after the makeover...

The gold and black e/s opened up her eyes which is what we both wanted to achieve on that shoot. The model wanted a look that will make her eyes look bigger. So far, she liked the outcome and she's also looking forward on our next shoot. I bet she'll still be able to pull off any look I'll make in the future. She's really a good model. She didn't have a hard time projecting in front of the camera. Thanks for that sis! :)

What I used on the model:

Face
Ellana Translucent Finishing in Espresso Con Panna

Eyes
Ellana MPM in Divine (Deep Gold Frost) - base
Ellana MPM in Ethereal (Matte Black) - contour, definer and eyeliner
Ellana MPM in Twinkle (Bright Sunny Gold Frost) - highlight
Ellana MPM in Dream (White Frost) - highlight
Nichido Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brown - browliner

Cheeks
Dollface Mini Contour and Highlight Palette - on the cheekbone

Lips
Dollface Concealer Palette
Revlon Mauve It Over Matte Lipstick

I'm just amazed how great she looks with fierce poses, that's why I entitled this blog "from delicate to passionate". Mind you, it's the hubby telling her what poses to make. Kudos to the hubby.

I'm really looking forward to do more shoots with her and the photographer, Mike Magsino.

First Time Ever Fun Shoot

I know everyone LOVE the neutral makeup look. Only by being an expert natural-makeup-look artist do we start to experiment and learn other interesting looks! And that's the stage where I am IN now, the stage of exploring and enjoying different natural makeup looks.

I'm very happy I was finally able to do a shoot with co-artists/ friends and finally, I was able to see how the makeup I used to love will look in front of the lights and camera.

Anyways, here's the photo of my Pauleen Luna-look alike model on my first photo shoot as MUA. :)

What I did on this shoot was, I prepared all the shades that will match her skin really well. Good thing, the model's skin tone was almost like mine so, I didn't have any problem searching for the right foundation, blush, eyeshadows, etc. (I haven't really invested on expanding my makeup shade collection right now and it would really be out-of-budget if ever I would, LOL). Anyways, finding the RIGHT shade is essential in creating a NATURAL makeup look. And lastly, what I love about this look is, it's the EVERYDAY look. It can be worn at the office, weddings, events, etc.

What I used on the model:

Face
MAC Sheer Select in NC37
Ellana Translucent Finishing in Espresso Con Panna
Ellana Concealer in Whimsy and Revive

Cheeks
Ellana Blush in Bliss
Dollface Contour/ Highlight Palette

Eyes
Nichido Eyebrow Liner in Medium Brown
Etude Henna Mascara in Black
Ellana MPM in Honeybunch
Ellana MPM in Beloved
Ellana MPM in Wish
Ellana MPM in Dream

Lips
Revlon Moisture Lipstick in Fleshtone

I'm so in love with the natural makeup look! Are you in love with it too?
Now you understand how I love makeup and blogging so much! I LOVE MAKEUP-BLOGGIN'! :))
