Trying the Cat Eye Look

I tried to achieve the cat eye look using my liquid eyeliner and I love how it has successfully opened and liven up my eyes. It's easy to draw a perfect line using my Nichido liquid eye liner because of it's fine and not-too-soft nor too-stiff brush bristles. . Nichido liquid eyeliner's worth P60.00 only. It's very cheap but it won't last for 24-hours.

I didn't apply mascara here since I just did it to experiment and I'm already getting ready to sleep that time. But, the cat eye look would have been better with the mascara. Now, I have two fotd's lined-up for next time, the smoky brown with contour and this cat eye look (both an experiment).

I also did a to-go eyeshadow alternative tool and look. I used Nichido's Brown and Black Brown pencil eyeliners (P90/each) to liven up my eyes more. I used the brown pencil to shade my crease and the black brown shade, on the outer crease. I blended them together using my precise crease blending brush. I also used a white pencil from Nichido to highlight the browbone (P90 also). Highlighting wasn't too obvious because of the lighting. Will just recreate and improve the look on the next fotd. :)

Favorite Makeup Guru

This girl inspires me. I hope I have the same charisma as hers in this video! This lady has talent! I totally love her!

Nothing's wrong with God, nothing's wrong with His word... what's wrong?

I love this grace message... I've read this from Ptr. Joseph Prince's fb page. I know it's not him speaking, he's just being used by God to share God's love and grace... I highlighted and put in bold letters those that strike me the most...

Song of Solomon 4:7
7 You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you.

Sometimes, when we don’t receive our healing, breakthrough, restoration or miracle child, we can’t help but think that something is wrong with us. We tell ourselves, “Nothing’s wrong with God, nothing’s wrong with the Word, so something must be wrong with me!” My friend, if you think that your miracle depends on you, then you are on shaky ground.

In the old covenant, we see this “it’s all up to me” demand put on man. God’s part was to bless His people, but only if they played their part by obeying all of His laws. If they didn’t do their part, not only would they not be blessed, but the curse would also come on them.

Most of the time, they ended up under the curse because they just could not keep all of God’s laws. So God found fault with that covenant because though He wanted to bless man, man’s sins made it difficult for Him to do so. Man himself was the weak link.

In the new covenant, man has no part to play except to believe and receive. The new covenant of grace was cut between God the Father and God the Son — both infallible and more than able to keep the covenant.

God the Son is man’s representative. Jesus represents you and me. So in this covenant, how much we can receive from God depends on how good our representative is, how perfect His obedience is. Of course, Jesus is the perfect Man with perfect obedience. So in Him, we are qualified to receive all the blessings of God! We only need to believe and receive.

Jesus’ blood has been shed for the remission of all your sins. You are now the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21) By His one perfect sacrifice, He has perfected you forever. (Hebrews 10:14, KJV) There is no spot in you!

Today, the devil has no right to tell you that you cannot be blessed because there is something wrong with you. So as you are waiting for your miracle, say, “Nothing’s wrong with God, nothing’s wrong with the Word and nothing’s wrong with me! I am going to receive my miracle!”

Thought Of The Day

By Jesus’ one perfect sacrifice for all your sins, He has perfected you forever.

Nose Contouring + Prep for Brown Smokey (15-pc palette)

I'm so excited to blog that I can't wait to redo the photos I took last night after I attempted to do nose contouring. Do you see the difference between these photos or it's just me wanting to see the difference? (haha!)

BEFORE and AFTER
Left without nose contouring
Right with nose contouring and brown smokey prep

Here's how I did it... I got the idea from Ms. Nikki Tiu of askmewhats.com.

Step #1
Apply a concealer shade 1 to 2 times lighter than your skin tone on your nose bridge. Start from the skin between the eyebrows down to the tip of the nose.

Step#2
Put a concealer 1 to 2 shades darker than your skin tone on the side of your nose bridge. Begin from the bottom of the corner of your eyebrows down to the tip of your nose (both sides).

Step #3
Correct and conceal excess lines using the shade that best match your skin tone then, blend everything with a setting powder.

Step #4
For the smoky brown eyes, prep your eyes by putting the darkest shade from the outer crease towards the contour beneath the corner of the eye brows. Then fill the lids with the darkest brown concealer shade. You can finish this look off by topping the concealer with a brown eyeshadow.

Step#5
Highlight your browbone with the white concealer. You can set this off with a white e/s too. I use dream to do this job for me since dream is not too loud and shimmery. Minerals are that subtle and blend-able.
Ellana's Dream MPM
So here's me with the contoured nose. ^^
I enjoy learning new things that can be achieved through makeup! Will practice more to perfect this technique! :)

Discovering new uses of my 15-pc concealer palette (yet again)

It's amazing how this palette did my friend a great makeover and it has actually become more amazing now since I was able to do brown smoky eyes, nose contouring and brow highlighting using only this single palette! :)

I'm so excited to do a new FOTD as soon as possible! Swear! I'm excited to wake up tomorrow and try the smokey eye look, cheek and nose contouring + highlighting using only this single palette! :) Yeeehaaa!!! (Just don't know how I can express more my excitement)

So please watch out and stay tuned! I actually took photos of me wearing the look from this palette already but will still redo it to make the look more perfect and clean. =D

Smokey eyes - Take II

This is my second time to try Smokey Eyes... What do you think? :)

What I used:

On the Eyes:
Ellana's Ethereal (Matte Black) Multipurpose Mineral Powder
Ellana's Wish (Matte Black Brown) Multipurpose Mineral Powder
Ellana's Yellow Submarine Super Sparkle Finishing Powder (on the brow bone)
Etude Gold Proof 10 Jewelry Liner (on the inner corners and lower lids)

On the Face:
Revlon Custom Creations (knob turned in #4)
Ellana's Perfect Blend Caramel Latte Foundation Powder
Ellana's Translucent Espresso Con Panna Finishing Powder
Ellana's Revive Concealer

On the Lips:
Etude Soft Touch Auto Lipliner in #2

How I did it:
I used Charm PRO's Pencil Point Brush to apply Ethereal, a matte black powder, on my upper lids. Then, using the precise crease blending brush, I blended Wish from the lids upward.

Here's Wish and the Pencil Point Brush...

I don't have a photo of the precise crease blending brush and ethereal e/s yet but will post as soon as I'm able to take a photo of them.

Here's ethereal and the precise crease blending brush!

It's fun! I thought I wasn't going to hit the look but, I think did! I'm gonna try this look again on shoots and events until I perfect it so well. :)

My Eye Shadow and Eye Brow Tools

Here are the tools I use to apply my eye shadows and eye brow liner:

Ellana Regular Eyeshadow Brush
I use my regular eyeshadow brush to apply the base all over my lids until the area below the brow bone.

Charm PRO Flat Eye Shader Brush
I use the flat eye shader brush to distribute a mid-tone eyeshadow on my crease.

Charm PRO Pencil Point Brush
I use the Charm Pro Pencil Point Brush to apply darker eyeshadow on my crease' outer-V or to smudge my eye liner.

Charm PRO Tapered Blending Brush
I use the tapered blending brush to blend all the eye shadows together and to apply highlighter on my brow bone and on the inner corner of my eyes.

Charm PRO Defining Brow Brush and Black Brown Eye Liner
I love this slanted brow liner brush because it gives me a neat-looking brows. The slanted brow liner brush gives my brows a perfect shape too. :)

Hope this gave you an idea on how you can use your brushes! I know brushes can be used in numerously different ways, you just have to know which is convenient for you the most! :)

A blog about being an Air Asia FA

I saw this blog from Air Asia's site. This may or may not help those who aspire to be a flight attendant like me... Enjoy reading!

You come to the airport, you see girls in red hot uniforms, walking with the trolley bag and looking all ready to take off into the skies.
You want to be one. You see the 'audition' advertisement in the papers. That's your chance!
You've got the height, you have a bubbly personality and you qualify academically. You dress up and head to the interview venue, with all the relevant documents in hand. Yet in you head, all you can hear is the loud beat of your nervous heart. You have NO IDEA what's coming...
Hang on! Take a chill pill. Here's something to help you.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM AN AIRASIA FLIGHT ATTENDANT INTERVIEW?
Firstly, in true AirAsia style, you've gotta expect the unexpected! Gone are those traditional bun-in-the-net and fringe-less sulky look. No way, not HERE, ladies..
Dress to impress, that goes to say without fail at ALL interviews. But when you are coming to audition for us, come in KNEE-LENGTH skirts. Keep those minis/micro-minis/skin-tight pants/tailored-slacks at home. Potray the feminine you. After all, you are aiming to be in that knee-length red skirt. So show us that you'd look good if not GREAT in a knee-length skirt!
Do apply make-up at appropriate 'strength'. This is no broadway or chinese opera stage. And mind you, this is no glitzy dance floor either. So give those glittery eyelids a rest. Make-ups are to ENHANCE your appearance. Tame those bushy eyebrows, moist up those dry and chapped lips, splash on a touch of blusher, brighten up those eyes, curl up the lashes and powder up that oily t-zone!
You MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST remeber to bring a BIG SMILE from the moment you arrive at the interview venue! A smile is a sure-win first impression, so flash us those pearly whites!
The first interview is all about your appearance and first impression. If you know you've got the quality to become one of the world's best cabin crew, the you have got to convince us by standing out in the crowd.
The process of the Day One is rather straight-forward. Firstly, you go through the height and weight check. Then comes the Documents check. Remember, smile your way through, be polite to anyone who is handling the checks.
When you finish all that, you will notice that the crowd would have dramatically reduced. Some aspirants would still brave the queues despite knowing that they might not have met all the pre-determined requirements.
Next, you'd be asked to strut your stuff down the aisle. Yes, the catwalk! Walking shows your posture, so don't hunch, don't slouch and for goodness sake, don't start that annoying habit of shaking your legs when you are seated and waiting for your turn. Don't think that panel is NOT watching! You will also be asked to make some simple sample announcements. That will surely excite any aspirants to be doing a flight-attendant 'thing'.
And when you have faced the time-trial of standing in line, keeping the grooming in check, and gloriously succeeded in making that impression, you will progress to the FINAL interview.
There will be three stages, and the focus will be on how you talk, how you interact, and how spontaneous you can get. The last bit will be the one-on-one interview, where our panel will be talking to you on a little more in-depth basis. To me, that would be the toughest part, but hey, that's just MY P.O.V., so don't let it bother you!.
In summary, just relax, bring out the best in yourself, SMILE, be friendly, and of course stay humble. This would not be the day for you to be shy, impatient, temperamental, or angry.
Believe in yourself and believe in the flight attendant in you. Just let that shine, and you'll be just fine.
All the best.
They say salary of a flight attendant in Air Asia is around 2,500 Malaysian Ringgit (including allowances) which is around 35,000 to 36,000 in Philippine Peso. Latest FA opening of Air Asia is for Clark International Airport and an open day will be held this March 5, 2011 at Mandarin Oriental Manila. See job details in here.

Practicing - Smokey eyes

They say practice makes perfect. It's so true. This is my first attempt to try smoky eyeshadow and though it wasn't a success, I'm still happy I did it! I want to try it again and again until I perfect it! :))

Brown, Warm Green and Gray are the best smoky eyeshadow shades for morenas. For my first attempt, I used a matte black brown shade for my smoky look.

Wish (Matte Black Brown) Eyeshadow

Will still practice to perfect this look! :)

Favorite Neutral ES with Step-by-step tutorial :)

Still my favorite eye shadows are Ellana's multipurpose powders. They do not crease after long hours of wearing even without primer. They also give good pigments that last on my eyes. :)

Top (right to left): Beloved and Wish
Bottom (right to left): Honeybunch and Dream

My favorites among Ellana's MPMs are the neutral shades above. I can wear them for interviews, daily use, dates, church service and dance numbers. Neutral shades are very versatile. They are not loud neither pale. They can give you the life your eyes need for the moment. These shades match best my morena skin tone.

HONEYBUNCH

Honeybunch is a good base for all skin tone.

BELOVED

Beloved can be a good contour and crease enhancer for lighter skin tone but needed to be built up for those with medium tone. This can be hardly seen for those with deeper skin tones. Beloved and Honeybunch is a good neutral eye shadow pair for those who have fair to medium light skin tone.

WISH

As for my medium to deep skin tone, I need wish to contour my eyes. It is a matte black brown shade.

DREAM

Dream can be used to liven the eyes and/or for highlighting the brow bones. Here are their swatches:

Without flash
Dream, Honeybunch, Beloved and Wish
With flash
Dream, Honeybunch, Beloved and Wish

Here's a step-by-step guide on how I use these neutral shades and where I apply them:

Apply Honeybunch on the lid, crease and the whole area below the brow bone.

Apply Beloved on the crease.

Apply Wish on the outer crease.

Apply Dream to highlight the brow bone and the inner corner of the eye.

Lastly, blend, blend, blend...
I'm yet to perfect my eyeshadow application skill. As of now, I am on the verge of practicing and having the perfect application.

Why do I love makeup so much!? :D

Perfectly Tan Skin

I've read about the phrase "perfectly tan" just recently. I know it's about the popular tanning techniques in the west but, I interpreted it as having your naturally tan skin a perfect tan. It's like keeping your naturally tan skin a perfect and flawless brown color.

Ever since I was a kid, I hated being dark, tanned, dull skinned, etc. But after realizing that taking care of yourself isn't just about taking a bath everyday and brushing your teeth regularly, I started to take care of my skin in a more special way.

The things I've learned ever since I started to want to have beautiful skin are:
1. Your facial soaps should be different from your body soap. Body soaps can be harmful to your facial skin. Scrubbing the body twice or thrice a week keeps dead skin cells from making your skin look dull.
2. Always wear sun protection. This will keep your skin beautiful and "perfectly tan" even in a tropical country.
3. Exfoliate and Moisturize. You don't want dead skin cells to make your face look dull and dry. As for the moisturizer, choose the best one for your skin type. If you have dry/ extra dry skin, go for one with extra moisture. But if you have normal to oily skin type, go for a water-based moisturizer.
4. Tone before putting moisturizer/ sunblock and makeup.

Morena, dark-skinned and tanned ladies should have the "perfect tan" and that can be achieved by taking care of our skin properly. We can also use umbrellas to protect our skin from the sun's harmful rays. They say it's "kaartehan" to bring an umbrella, I say, it's otherwise. I tell you, the sun's rays are not as healthy as they were before especially in tropical countries...

Taking care of our skin is a must both for women with fair and dark skins. So for other kikay morenas out there, let's aim to make our tan perfect! So what if we have have tanned or brown skin? You should know that many pale-skinned women desired to have the kind of skin we have especially when we take care of it. :)

Latest Ellana Grabs

Had my own Ellana Eye Primer and First Kiss lip spa today! I like the color of the lip spa and the tingling mint sensation it gives! :) I'm happy how the sheer pink red shade of the lip spa matches my morena skin well.

As for the eye primer, I am yet to try it. I think I'll be needing it for my oily seasons, for future clients/ models and  for a whole day event.

Valentines Date

Me and my hubby had our date at a mall near our place. We spent our valentines day in the movie house but ate our dinner first at KFC before watching the last screening of Love and other Drugs (Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal). While waiting for the last screening schedule, we also bought chips and drinks which we  weren't able to eat after having a fully loaded meal at KFC.

So there, look at how we don't look like a married couple. :)
Aside from one fully loaded meal, we also bought KFC's ala carte double down. We didn't finish it all while at the restaurant. We took with us the cheesy bacon twister, half of the double down and a brownies from the fully loaded meal which we ate at the movie house.

It's not our first time to try double down but it's our first to try KFC's cheesy bacon twister and Alfredo pasta bowl. The cheesy bacon twister was a disappointment. It smells like a carton and tastes like one. (hehe) Maybe it's because I ate it cold. But I just didn't like the taste of the wrapper and the filling. As for the Alfredo, two thumbs up! My husband and I liked it! We'll definitely try this one again next time we eat at KFC. :)

KFC's Alfredo Chicken Pasta Bowl
Here's my look on my Valentines date:

What I like most out of this look is the fleshtone lipstick. I used Etude's fleshtone lipliner and topped it with Revlon's Moisture Fleshtone Lipstick. For my eyes, I used my favorites, Ellana's MPM honeybunch and beloved. For the whole face, Ellana's Macchiato Mineral Foundation and Espresso Con Panna Translucent Finishing Powder. :)

I truly enjoyed my not so glamorous yet awesome valentines date. Did you enjoy yours?
